Our core style belief is that 'Elegant Simplicity' correlates to 'High Fashion Luxury'. In my culture, we believe that there is power in every name so "Lamtoro Yelibana" is a phrase used to honor those with the last name, 'Sallah'. My mother, Aji Ida Sallah, was a well known seamstress and fashion designer in my homeland, The Gambia. Throughout my childhood, I was fortunate to watch her create gorgeous designs for friends, family and clients. The array of colorful fabric textures and colors sparked my imagination early on so I began the ambitious push to create my own line. My mother has since transitioned so I felt compelled and called to honor her legacy so 'Yeli Bana' is the sequel to her story. As a young working professional, I struggled to find business clothing that reflected my personal style. The search for favorable fashion would result in a spectrum of basic work attire to exaggerated prints or styles that lacked professionalism. Yeli Bana will provide chic, modern designs with a touch of African prints and fabrics for young business professionals and entrepreneurs. Each piece from this line will tell a story of individuality while honoring the sacredness of tradition. Research shows that Millennials strive to maintain a positive work/life balance so I've taken this into account with each design by creating transitional pieces that go from the boardroom to a fun night out on the town. This mission is being accomplishedby its Designer & founder Adam Sallah, by contracting with factories in Americanand around the world in creating innovative and approachable designs inspiredby African designs and fabrications.
